Licensed Therapist & Mental Performance Specialist

About Me

I’m Rachel Moyer, a licensed therapist with over a decade of experience working with elite and professional athletes, including my current role with Penn State Athletics.

I started One Point because I saw how often the mental side of performance gets treated separately from the person behind the athlete. I wanted to create a space where both matter—where athletes can work through pressure, confidence dips, overthinking, and the constant demand to perform, while still feeling like themselves outside of their sport too.

My approach sits at the intersection of mental performance and mental wellness. I don’t believe mental strength comes from constantly pushing harder or ignoring what’s happening internally. Real resilience is built through awareness, discipline, emotional control, and the ability to respond effectively when pressure, expectations, or setbacks arise.

The Approach

performance anxiety specialist, working on mental skills and performance with an athlete client

This work is about more than just feeling better. It’s about showing up with clarity, confidence, and consistency both in your sport and in your life.

At One Point, the work focuses on three pillars:

Awareness:

Understanding thoughts, emotions, and patterns to uncover what’s happening beneath the surface

Tools:

Learn concrete strategies and routines for pressure, stress, and confidence on and off the field

Application:

Practice in real scenarios to build consistency and translate sessions to competition and life

This isn’t about overanalyzing or turning you into someone you’re not, it’s about optimizing your brain to work for you, not against you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While I’m a licensed therapist, the work I offer here is focused on mental performance and personal development rather than clinical therapy. That said, it still draws from a strong foundation in mental health, and we may naturally touch on both performance and well-being as part of the process.

If therapy or a higher level of care is needed, I will always help guide you in the right direction.

  • Yes. Your privacy matters. You are welcome to share about the work we do but I will not share with anyone unless you ask me to.

This space is yours. For younger athletes, I may provide general updates to parents when appropriate, but the goal is always to maintain trust and give you a place to be open.

  • That’s part of the work.

Performance doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Life, stress, relationships, and identity all impact how you show up. We can absolutely work through those things as they relate to your performance and overall well-being.

If something requires a different level of support, I’ll help you find the right resources.

  • That’s completely okay. Most athletes haven’t.

I’ll meet you where you are and build from there. You don’t need to have the “right words” or know what to expect, just a willingness to engage.

  • That’s normal.

Trust takes time. We’ll go at a pace that feels right, while still being intentional about the work. There’s no expectation to share everything immediately.
